The netball season is fast approaching with the first day of play being 30 April 2016. There are 14 rounds.

There has been some changes with how divisions will be organised this year.  Please read below for a full explanation.

Divisions

MDNA will conduct Netball in the following divisions or as decided by the executive;

Division 1-3.  Standard rules. Competitive games. Graded on team ability. No minimum age however, 18+ year olds are only able to play in Division 1-3.

Division 4-5. Standard rules. Competitive games. Graded on team ability and made up of 12-17 year old players as at 31 December in the year of play.

12 Year Division. Standard rules. Competitive games. Players aged no older than 12 as at 31 December in the year of play.

11 Year Division. Standard rules. Competitive games. Players aged no older than 11 as at 31 December in the year of play.

10 Year Division. Standard rules. Competitive games. Players aged no older than 10 as at 31 December in the year of play.

9 Year Division. Modified rules of size 4 ball and modified ring height of 2.4m. Competitive games. Players aged no older than 9 as at 31 December in the year of play. Modified ring height of 2.4m

8 Year Division. Modified rules of size 4 ball and modified ring height of 2.4m. Competitive games. Players aged no older than 8 and no younger than 7 as at 31 December in the year of play. Modified ring height of 2.4m

Skills. Players aged no younger than 5 and no older than 7 as at 31 December in the year of play. These players will not need a uniform, as they are not in a set team. All of their activities will occur on the grass courts. The purpose of the division is to teach the girls the fundamental skills required for netball.

NOTE: Players can play in a Division above their age.  For example, a 9 yr old can play in the 10 Year Division.

Team and individual nominations

For our Starlets Club we will be taking team and individual nominations. If you are nominating a team, then the age of the oldest player will determine which division you play in. It would be preferable to us if you just nominated as an individual and we can place players in teams according to age. We have players from nearly all of the schools in our district (we are not strictly any school). If you know of other players looking to play please forward this email onto them.

We would like to limit teams to 8-9 players. This way players get more game time and we have the ability to borrow from younger divisions and for the 8 year division we can borrow within that division in the case of a team being short a player.

Starlets training sessions

We are also planning on holding a Starlets training session on a Wednesday afternoon from 3.30-4.30pm at the Glen Willow Netball Courts. This session would be run by myself and some other experienced players and coaches. Players would not train specifically in their individual teams. These sessions will focus on the fundamental skills of netball such as throwing, catching stepping, court craft etc. This session is not compulsory and your coach may want to hold a training session after this or on another day or maybe not at all.

Fees

There is no fee to join the Starlets Club. A uniform will be provided thanks to our sponsors. You will need to pay a $50 deposit for the uniform which is refunded on its return at the end of the season.

For MDNA the fee schedule is below:

Registration Categories and Fees
